Social Security Registration

Social Security in Thailand is a mandatory system managed by the Social Security Office (SSO) under the Ministry of Labour. It provides essential financial protection and benefits to employees, covering healthcare, maternity, disability, unemployment, child allowances, old-age pensions, and death benefits.

Any company in Thailand that hires one or more employees aged between 15 and 60 is legally required to register with the Social Security Office within 30 days of hiring. This obligation applies to both Thai and foreign employees, provided that foreign workers hold a valid work permit. Each new employee must also be individually registered with the SSO within 30 days of their employment start date.

Both employers and employees contribute 5% of the employee’s monthly salary to the Social Security Fund. Starting January 2026, the maximum wage ceiling for contribution calculations has increased, with the maximum monthly contribution rising from THB 750 to THB 875 per person. Contributions must be remitted by the 15th of the following month.
